Updating Work Styles information in the O*NET Content Model
A technical report describing the update process and upcoming enhancement to Work Styles information within the O*NET Content Model is now available. See: Revisiting the Work Styles Domain of the O*NET Content Model.
Work Styles, or “personality tendencies exhibited at work that can affect how well someone performs a job,” have been included in the O*NET Content Model since its inception. The information is incorporated throughout the O*NET system (i.e., websites, database, web services) and serves as an important part of the O*NET Program’s support for educational planning, career exploration, career guidance, job search, and organizational placement.
A new Work Styles structure was developed including 21 lower-order dimensions organized into 7 higher-order dimensions. Content Model revisions will occur during the O*NET 29.1 database release (November, 2024). Occupation-specific ratings for these new Work Styles dimensions will be developed and published in a future database release.
